On Monday, February 24th, over a hundred New Yorkers gathered for Broadway Gives Back’s Second Annual Broadway Charity Songs benefit concert. Broadway Gives Back combines the best of Broadway- from composers to performers, with a variety of nonprofit organizations to create art that benefits inspirational causes.

Among other unique pieces, audience members got to hear an original song entitled “Why Is The Sky Blue?” that was written by Beth Falcone for Girl Rising. Beth is a talented composer/lyricist whose songs “We Choose Love” was performed at the Pennsylvania Inaugural Gala celebration in Washington, DC. The song will also be performed at a benefit for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights Aids.

Girl Rising was just one in a list of incredible charities honored at the benefit concert, with causes ranging from The Fresh Air Fund, an organization that sends children from low-income communities to summer camps in the country, to Men Can Stop Rape, a nonprofit that mobilizes men in the fight against women’s violence.

All the proceeds from ticket sales were divided between the represented charities. Check out the video of Monday night’s live performance of “Why is The Sky Blue?” here! http://bit.ly/1hwuOAN
