This year’s Women’s History Month was off to an exciting start for our team thanks to a special partnership with Books on the Subway, Landry Bender and Tanya Lee Stone!

We first learned about Books on the Subway when the literary sharing scheme (and their sister organization Books on the Underground) partnered with Emma Watson to share copies of her feminist book club’s selection around public transit systems in November.

Promoting literacy, feminism and a sense of community? We could not help but reach out to the BOTS team with an ask to collaborate.

Hollie and Rosy, the incredible duo behind BOTS, recruited a rockstar group of “book fairies” to share 75 copies of Girl Rising: Changing the World One Girl at a Time across New York City. Our friends, actress Landry Bender and the book’s author Tanya Lee Stone, penned notes that were tucked inside some of the books, encouraging readers to embrace the power of education and activism.

How amazing it is to know that girls' stories from around the world have made it into the hands, hearts and homes of New Yorkers. Thank you for celebrating with us!

For a look behind the scenes check out what readers (and the book fairies themselves!) had to say:
